Math/Science Updates
Math:
Students have been exploring the relationship between fractions, decimals, and percents. We did some work adding, subtracting, and multiplying with decimals. Students are now reviewing how to find equivalent fractions using common factors and multiples. They will build on this skill by adding and subtracting fractions with different denominators. From there, we will explore percent, converting between forms, and ordering mixed groups of fractions, decimals and percents. Our culminating activity will be a budget task that will allow students to apply all of these skills.
Science:
Students have been building their knowledge of how the landscape of the earth changes through sudden events and slow, incremental processes. They are examining how geologists use evidence to develop theories about events of the past. We are just starting a project exploring unique landforms.
